For the month of August, we’re going to show you have to get a total body workout using just one piece of fitness equipment. The Body-Solid Leverage Gym enables the user to “leverage” their way to amazing muscle gains.
The purpose behind a leverage bench is to provide the user with an intense workout while eliminating putting strain on the body. Historically leverage benches have only been available in commercial gyms, but with the Body-Solid Corner Leverage Plate Load Gym fitness enthusiasts can now incorporate this piece of fitness equipment into their home gyms.
Prior to leverage gyms, the best way to strength train was using free weights like barbells and dumbbells, or weight-stack machines. While both of these options will do the job, they do have some limitations. Free-weights for example, provide the user with natural, free-form resistance, but it can allow their movements to become sloppy as they move through the full range of motion. The lack of control and stability with free weights can even become dangerous when using heavy weights without a spotter. It’s also more difficult to push yourself without a spotter and go for more reps when training.
The limitations of weight-stack machines are due to the restricted range of motion in regards to both function and resistance. Additionally, cable or belt-driven machine cause some friction and drag that detracts from the natural feel of resistance you get with free weights, which can limit your ability to build stabilizer muscles.
Enter the leverage gym. The frame-and-bench structure was designed to put the user into the correct workout position and allow you to duplicate the same range of motion that you get using a plate loaded machine. The lever arm & high/low pulley system is used while ensuring control and safety, making it the perfect combination of free weights and machine.
Leverage machines enable the user to safely control their exercise movements at all times, which means you will be able to push your muscles. When using a leverage machine to gain strength and improve muscle size there are three things you need to keep in mind. That is the workout itself, maintaining a proper diet to support your goals and resting.
The workout is important for obvious reasons, where proper nutrition will feed and energize your body to work and grow. Resting between workouts is important in order to allow for muscle tissue to recover and rebuild.
Here’s the good news. When working out with a leverage bench what matters is quality over quantity. This means you don’t need to spend hours upon hours in the gym, instead of a strong 30-40 minute workout at maximum effort with at least a day in between workout days to allow your body to rest will give the results you are looking for and produce substantial gains.
When creating your workout schedule we recommend doing 2-3 sessions per week, and doing 1-2 exercises per muscle group. Perform one set of each exercise and do it to failure. When performing a set do 6-10 repetitions. If you can do 10 repetitions of an exercise, increase the weight.
When performing reps use the following count: two-second positive, two-second hold and four-second negative.
A sample workout would look like this:
Session 1
Session 2
Session 3
