An endless rope is one of our favorite pieces of workout equipment offering both a cardiovascular and strength workout. It is a great way to train your back, core and biceps as you build strength and cardiovascular endurance.
Whether you’re a gym owner or have an endless rope machine in your home, one of the things you need to consider for your gym is cleanliness. Due to the unique composition of this piece of equipment, cleaning it will take more than just wiping it down.
Here are some guidelines to follow when cleaning your endless rope.
Fitness Rope Cleaning Tips
Whether you own a Torque Fitness endless rope or another brand, here are some things to keep in mind when cleaning or sanitizing your equipment:
- If you work in a commercial gym, consider wearing gloves to prevent the spread of germs.
- Avoid cleaning the machine and especially the rope with bleach since it will weaken the fibers.
- Avoid allowing the rope to come in contact with acids, bases, or solvents.
- Do not attempt to open the rope drum, you should only clean the rope itself.
- Another option is removing the rope completely (from a Torque Fitness rope machine) and washing it in a tub or in a washing machine. If you choose to do this, coil the rope and place it inside a mesh laundry bag. Do not use detergent.
- Commercial or public facilities should clean the rope drum multiple times daily. Home gym users can do it less often – even weekly will be enough.
The following instructions are easy to follow for cleaning and sanitizing your equipment:
- Begin by wiping your fitness ropes with a towel or a microfiber cloth along with a cleaning agent to help rid bacteria and germs. Quat Cleaner is a cleaner we recommend.
- Mix 1 oz of the Quat cleaner with 32 oz of water in a spray bottle.
- Spray the solution directly on the rope drum.
- Wipe down the rope drum thoroughly with your cloth using vertical strokes.
- Clean the actual rope beginning at the seam where the ends connect and continue until you have cleaned the entire rope.
That’s it! A simple way to keep your endless rope clean and sanitized.
